Why Hire A Profession Wedding Photographer?

So last week I got an e-Mail from a person interested in a quote for her daughter’s wedding. Which prompted my, why hire a professional wedding photographer blog. It was to be a Autumn Wedding at the Wild Animal Park, which I thought was a great location. The wedding was to be for 6 hours long and would end around 9:00. As you know, photography is a very competitive business in San Diego, since there are something like 1,874 photographers according to Yelp.

I did some calculations and added a second shooter, since it was going to be a fairly large wedding and submitted my quote. Now, as most of you know waiting can be the worst part of this job. You don’t want to overcharge, because they may go with someone cheaper and you don’t want to underbid, because it’s a lot of work; especially on the back end and your time is worth something. Here are some tips, if you are on the fence about having “Uncle Bob” shoot your wedding.

Rates for wedding are usually very competitive; especially in a consumers market.

A professional photographer uses; guess what, professional equipment.

A professional photographer has a backup plan and equipment. Most photographers have a backup camera, memory cards, and flashes, just in case.

You are paying for a professional photographer’s eye and experience.

Uncle Bob may not have a copy of Lightroom or Photoshopfor touchups.

You get what you pay for.

To make a long story short, I submitted a reminder e-Mail on Friday, a week later and got my response. “Thank you so much, my daughter is proceeding with wedding plans but will be using a relative for photography, thanks for the info”.I am bummed that I did not get the job, but not mad, because in the end the bride will see what skimping on a photographer really cost her most important day of her life.

I hope I have not bored you too much. I had a lot of fun writing this one like all of my blogs. I trust I have given you some valuable tips to think about, before planning your next shoot. It’s not all bad, just be clear and informative, it will save you a lot of headaches. Remember nothing is set in stone and there is not a perfect formula, so go out and have some fun.
